The Jacksonville A.A. Christian College Moccasins embarked on their third consecutive road game, traveling to Lawrenceville, GA, on October 5th to take on the Georgia Christian College Knights. In a hard-fought contest that showcased both potential and ongoing challenges, the Mocs fell 20-38, extending their winless streak to four games.

Offensively, the Mocs demonstrated flashes of promise, amassing 237 total yards and scoring two touchdowns. Quarterbacks Wyatt Lagow and Dylan Miranda each connected for passing touchdowns, showing signs of growing chemistry with their receivers. Running back Demetrius Pettis spearheaded the ground attack with 55 rushing yards, displaying his usual grit and determination. However, the Mocs' offensive efforts were marred by three costly interceptions that shifted the game’s momentum decisively in favor of the Knights. These turnovers proved to be pivotal, halting potential scoring drives and putting the defense under immense pressure.

Despite conceding 38 points, the Mocs' defense had moments of brilliance. The unit made crucial fourth-down stops and goal-line stands, demonstrating resilience and grit. The defense forced two fumbles and registered an interception, showcasing their ability to create turnovers. A standout moment came from defensive back Sageny Horace, who delivered a game-changing play with a 100-yard interception return for a touchdown. Horace’s electrifying run gave the Mocs a brief lead early in the second half and marked his second interception in as many games, underscoring his impact on the defensive side of the ball.

“I saw the quarterback eyeing his receiver, and I knew I had to make a play,” Horace said. “Once I caught it, I just thought about getting to the end zone and helping my team. Plays like that are what we need to turn things around.” Horace also tallied three pass breakups, further solidifying his standout performance.

However, the Mocs’ early momentum fizzled as the second half progressed. Costly mistakes and missed opportunities allowed the Knights to seize control and pull away late in the game. The Mocs struggled to sustain drives and capitalize on their defensive efforts, highlighting areas for improvement as they move forward in the season.

Head Coach Nolan Carroll reflected on the game’s outcome, emphasizing both the positives and areas for growth. “We’re seeing flashes of what this team is capable of, but we need to put it all together,” Carroll said. “There’s no doubt that these guys have heart. We just have to clean up the mistakes and keep pushing forward. Our goal is to keep improving each week, and I know we’re capable of that.”

As the team returns home, the focus will be on regrouping and addressing the mistakes that have plagued their recent performances. The coaching staff remains optimistic, emphasizing the importance of building on the positives and refining their game plan. The upcoming homecoming game against Atlantis University presents a prime opportunity for the Mocs to turn the tide of their season. With the home crowd behind them, the Mocs aim to put together a complete performance, combining their offensive firepower and defensive resilience to secure a much-needed victory.
